Harmukh
<p>The sacred peak of Harmukh (5,148 m.) commands the northern reaches of the Kashmir valley, first summited by Capt. Montgomery in 1856. One can access Harmukh from Bandipora, which remains the easiest and traditional path. Harmukh offers uninterrupted views that extend as far as Karakoram in the north and Shamshabari Range in the west, which encircles the Wular lake, Asia’s largest freshwater lake. Another much steeper approach to Harmukh is from the Gangabal side, first traversed by General Bruce in 1912.</p>
