Orange And Striped But Not What You Think

Orange And Striped But Not What You Think…

Still enamoured with orange striped animals? Then look no further than the beautifully patterned yellow gorgon Meandrusa payeni butterfly. This fantastically shaped insect is found in India from Sikkim, northern parts of West Bengal to Assam. Usually a fast-flying canopy dweller, newly eclosed (emerged) males are attracted to flowing stream edges. Despite their bright markings, while mud-puddling they can appear more like a dried leaf, as can be seen with this male photographed in the Buxa Tiger Reserve.
