Indian gaur

A lone Indian gaur – unmistakable because of its massive build, large head and gently curving horns – basks in the warmth of the rising sun in the open grasslands of Pench, a reprieve after the harsh winter nights. Gaur herds are led by an old matriarch, while adult males usually lead solitary lives.
